New Executive Director

Pastor Jim has served on the board of the Mission since 2003 and brings 13 years of business management experience to our multifaceted nonprofit ministry. After selling his own successful company three years ago, he completed his studies and became an ordained pastor. He also then began assisting the Mission with facilities management, as well as advising our board on real estate and other business matters.

“I consider it a privilege to carry forward Sister Elaine’s work and to serve in a dynamic ministry that has grown steadily for 16 years. As much as I can, I plan to minister locally on the streets—just as she did so often.”

The Heart of the Mission

In January of 1992 our street ministry began by handing out ten bologna and cheese sandwiches to the hungry. It began with a vision from God to GO FEED THE POOR. Today we are feeding approximately two thousand people a week, giving out about 350,000 meals to people who have a need. Poverty on Long Island is on the rise due to the increase of the high cost of living (housing, rent, heat, food, etc...). Statistics show that approximately 250,000 people on Long Island are living below the poverty line including 93,000 children. These number increase daily. The heart of the people at the Mission is to reach out to others and see that no child will go to bed hungry. Jesus said, "For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me." Working TOGETHER can make a difference in someone's life who is crying out for help.

HELP!!! WE NEED TO RELOCATE!

The Lighthouse Mission needs to relocate ALL of its main office buildings. The property on Railroad Avenue in Patchogue is being sold and our buildings will be taken down to make room for more housing.

Do you have any leads where we could find at least 3.5 acres of property?

The property can be with or without buildings.

Praying for one another

Praying One for Another
The Lighthouse Mission not only feeds the hungry, but spiritually feeds the soul. Through the love of God, the volunteers at the Mission help people in need on a daily basis through prayer and God's Word. Helping hands are needed to provide for the many problems that people bring with them as they come for solace here.

VOLUNTEER HELP IS ALWAYS WELCOME

Back to School Program
In 2007 we helped 1,300 children with the donations of many individuals, businesses and corporations. We could not have helped all those children without our donors and volunteers...
